Claire & Michael - Healds Hall - Liversedge

With family travelling from South Africa for Claire & Michael's wedding last Saturday, you knew it was going to be a big celebration. Claire and the Bridesmaids were getting ready at a local hotel, before going onto Healds Hall for an emotional Civil ceremony. Claire's brother drove Claire to the venue in her dad's (Brian) Vintage Car, which he had restored and is his pride and joy. Everybody seemed to have a good time, so by the time it was ready for the first dance everyone was very relaxed and was in party mood. Brian set up his guitar and sang to Claire & Michael as they danced, which was a very special moment. Brian also sang the next song which got everybody on the dance floor. I know from the comments I got from the guests that they were having a great time and wanted to celebrate Claire & Michael's special day.

Funki Foto Fun at Michael & Claire's Wedding

After my trial with my sister & niece the other week, it was time to put the project into action. So my guinea pigs were going to be the guests at Claire & Michael's wedding at Healds Hall. So after the first dance I set up the Funki Red Background, put the props ready for action, and was ready to go. As soon as the DJ announced it, it was pretty full on. It was really fun, but hectic as Claire & Michael's family and friends were so up for it. I am sure they had as much fun as I did.

Website Launch for BonBon's Day Nurseries

It's arrived - it's "Funki Foto Fun"

Well this project has been on-going for a while now, with the help and assistance of various people - who I thank for the input and help. So now it is being launched, this is a new concept for weddings, parties and events etc., It will add a extra fun element and sparkle to the occasion, with props, picture frame and speech bubbles to play with. Anyway, now that the background was ready, it was time to try out with my 2 willing (well one was) volunteers, my sister Linda and my niece Louise. So they donned the silly hats, wigs, glasses and had a go at "Funki Foto Fun". I think they enjoyed themselves and it all got a bit silly, of course I had to join in as well. Also the cat got in the act as well, though does not look line she was very impressed with her outfit.

Hollie the Cat

I have a cat called Willow. Those on FB will have seen him plenty of times, however he never likes having his photo taken and is more interested in food. So it was nice to get an opportunity even a brief one, while at my sisters to take a couple of images of her cat Hollie. Hollie is now a mature lady, but is still mischievous and is into everything. She did not seem to mind having her picture taken and in fact was a little bit intrigued by the camera. I am sure you will agree that she is a pretty little cat and a purrrrfect model.

Mandy & Tim Pre-Wedding at Monk Fryston Hall

Today I met up with the lovely Mandy and ever so crazy Tim at Monk Fryston Hall in North Yorkshire. As you can see that last weekend snow was still evident when we took these shots. Mandy & Tim live in the Midlands and they had been up to Yorkshire to visit relatives, so this was a great opportunity to meet up and discuss their wedding and do the photo shoot. I am really looking forward to photographing these guys when they get married in April, it looks like it is going to be great fun indeed.

Long Family Portrait

Brought the white background out for these high-key shots. Graham had contacted me just before Christmas for a voucher as a present for his wife Linda. We did do a few shots outside in the garden, but we were loosing the light and the weather was turning for the worst. So the background was set up and shots were taken inside. Fun seemed to be had by all, even the kids enjoyed themselves, to say they do not like having their photograph taken. One person who did seem to enjoy himself, was Graham.

Elizabeth Grace's Christening

Following on from my recent photo shoot with Elizabeth and Amy the other week. I had the biggest pleasure in photographing Elizabeth's Christening last Sunday, at Hartshead Church where her Mum & Dad married almost 4 years to the day, in which I took the wedding photographs. Elizabeth's Christening Gown, Bonnet & Bib were made from Amy's wedding dress and oh boy she look cute in it. Elizabeth was very good and was extremely adorable as well, as her family all made a fuss of her on her special day. Pity I was not allowed to take photographs of the actual christening as the vicar was on good form, as Amy, Matthew & Elizabeth acted as Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus, along with the congregation playing lambs, angels, shepherds and wise men, with the Vicar wearing a flat cap and brandishing a rake to "Clean the Stables out". Afterwards it was up the the Black Horse Inn, where family group shots were taken, with plenty of mingling and children shots. It was lovely afternoon and it was great to catch up with Amy & Matthew's family and friends again.

On a very blustery Sunday I caught up with Claire & Michael at Healds Hall. They are getting married early next year at the said venue. I had only met them a few weeks ago on Claire's mum and dad's narrow boat (I don't do water very well), so this time we met on dry land. Michael as a little apprehensive about having his photograph taken, but soon they were having a good time and giggling. So fun was had by all and especially a very excited couple, who can not wait for their special day.

Max & Dan's 21st

On Saturday night it was Party time for Max & Daniel with a joint 21st. This was held in a very large Marquee in the grounds of Rastrick Cricket Club. There was a live band and Casino as well as a very large Ice Sculpture in a shape of a 21 which when fed shots you could drink from a tube. Yours truly did not partake in this practice. It was a very lively party with loads of guests, who were all enjoying themselves. I managed to catch up with two or three people that I had not seen for a very long time, which was especially nice for me. Dan & Max had a great time and partied until the early hours in the morning (a few sore heads - the next day). My favourite shot is the dancing shot, wish I could remember what they were dancing too (Manic).

Emma & Ian - Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey

A very mild day for Emma & Ian's wedding last week, a contrast to last year when it snowed quite heavily. As I arrived at the Devonshire Arms, Ian greeted me at the door with is best man. Everybody seemed very relaxed and Emma was as very chilled out as well. Emma looked beautiful in her dress which was absolutely stunning. She was given away by her two sons, who looked very smart and did her proud. I could tell that Ian was amazed by Emma as she approached him down the aisle and once they had completed their vows, their first kiss was followed by a sweeping gesture by Ian. There was a slight hint of rain in the air, but held off while we did the formal shots and some fun shots as well. I made most of the light and took some shots outside the venue and inside I used the video light which I thought had a great effect. After the speeches more shots where taken on the way too and back from they honeymoon suite. Emma & Ian had a great time and their love speaks volumes in their photographs.

Woodhouse Londis Halloween Pumpkin Competition

Halloween night and all the ghostly, ghouls and witches were out in force, along with their pumpkin lanterns. Woodhouse Stores were holding a competition open to the local children who had purchased their pumpkin's in store. There was 3 worthy winners in different age groups, with some very inventive pumpkins, they all won goody bags presented by the store owner.

While I was sunning myself in Spain the other week, Jacqui rang to see if I could photograph her 50th Birthday party, which luckily was the day after my return to old Blighty. It was going to be a fun do with Jacqui's family and friends, also with the entertainment from "The Idle Elvis", who I have seen before when I was photographing another party last year. All the ladies love his act and soon got everyone up dancing, the atmosphere was superb, with good food and drink supplied by Heaton Tennis & Squash club.

October comes with a heatwave and wow, was it warm. So on Saturday, we were at the Holiday Inn at Brighouse. Sharon was quite calm while getting ready with her lovely daughter Nicola and later on little Charlie joined us. Sharon is the sister of my groom from several years ago, so it was good to catch up with the family again. Sharon wore a very simple and elegant dress, her hair was adorned with white roses. Paul is quite a character and so was his bestmen and ushers, they all looked very smart in their suites. The civil ceremony was lovely and we did think Paul was going to cry at first, he did look very nervous, but then nerves were forgotten once he saw Sharon. Photographs were taken in the courtyard, and because of the lovely weather looked very Mediterranean at times.

I did not met the very cute Isla until her day of her Baby Naming and I only met mum Lindsay and Dad Dean the day before. The family live in Malaysia and had travelled back to Lindsay's parents in Huddersfield. So there was a great family get-together at Prego Restaurant in Brighouse, celebrating a special little girl. There were lots of children there so they got a go at having their face painted as Prego's have a children's area in the main restaurant. The baby naming was a lovely ceremony in which both Lindsay, Dean and Lindsay's dad spoke from their heart about how special this little girl was. I got the impression from Lindsay and Dean that the birth of Isla Mae had made their life so perfect.

This was a very exciting wedding. Firstly the Bridal suite at the Du-Vin Hotel in Harrogate in a most beautiful room with a fantastic Shower room, which had a lovely glass table which I used for shoe, headdress and bridal bouquet photographs. Stephanie looked stunning in her wedding gown, with a lovely pearl headdress and accessories. Then off to Harewood House (with a quick look at the penguins). The wedding took place within the courtyard and was a lovely service, with a very emotional mum. Afterwards, we had photographs by the steps at the front of the house and the photographs on the terrace/gardens. Later we went to the lake for shots there and also on the bridge. The weather was very kind, but a bit breezy at times. Everybody had a great time and before the first dance, confetti was showered over the confetti as they came into the room.

We went to Emmerdale country for Melissa & John's wedding. Melissa looked stunning in her wedding gown and the bridesmaids wore blue, which seems to be in season this year. I met up with John and the guests outside the "Woolpack" at Esholt, which was used in Emmerdale for years and obviously the church was also. The wedding was lovely with a choir who were superb and a very nice lady vicar. After the ceremony we headed up the Lane to Hollins Hall, where everyone was out on the terrace enjoying the early autumn sunshine. Melissa and John are a lovely couple and have been blessed by their little boy Alex who was a perfect angel on the day.

Friday's wedding kicked off at Huddersfield Town Hall with a parade of Soldiers. Paul wore a Military Uniform and Caroline in a stunning red gown. It was a lovely ceremony with mum giving Caroline away and Paul's young son as a great best man. After the confetti was thrown, we met up at the Cedar Court and again with a parade of Soldiers. Photographs were taken at the back courtyard and then we made our way to the front for more intimate shots. Paul will be off too Afghanistan in a few weeks, so hopefully he will take away with him many happy memories with the images of a fantastic day.

I met up with Caroline & Paul at the venue for their wedding reception this weekend. Caroline & Paul had only booked me a couple of weeks ago, as even though they had been planning to get married soon, they set the date earlier as Paul will be going to Afghanistan later this year. Paul will be getting married in Military Uniform and will be joined by some of his regiment who will be on parade. It was a nice day when we met up at the Cedar Court, so we did a few shots in the courtyard and then moved to the front of the hotel. Paul & Caroline are clearly besotted with each other and this shows in their photographs.

Now to the last of the 3 wedding weekend. We caught up with Sandy & John at the Durker Rood's in Huddersfield. Weather again was pretty good, so have been very lucky indeed. Sandy looked stunning in her Amanda Wyatt gown and the boys looked great in Tuxedo's. This was an Scottish /Jordie/Italian wedding and you just know you were in for a treat with a lot of good fun. After the ceremony as Sandy & John walked back down the aisle, Sandy's mum was waving a flag (not sure what she meant by that). Durker Rood Hotel has some lovely grounds and after the wedding the children were treated to a bouncy castle. A hog roast was a treat for the guests, after the waiters brought round the canapés of Hula Hup, Carrot and Jelly Babies (Yum). Normally I would be elsewere whilst the food was being served, but I was party to a little secret - clue above. The waiters were great until they started pinching food from guests, swigging wine from the bottles and chewing gum. Then to cap it all the odd job man arrived to clean the windows, change the light bulbs and drilling with banging. These were of course "Comedy Waiters known as Spanner in the Works" and in the finale of Bohemian Rhapsody, where all the guests were asked to congregate around Sandy & John to join in and they did just that with gusto. Such Fun.

Michaela & Adrian - Bagden Hall

Now we are on to the second wedding of the weekend with lovely Michaela & Adrian at Bagden Hall. Bridal preparation was done at home, with all the bridesmaids, mum and dad. With one little bridesmaid was very excited and very emotional so it was a mixture of joy and tears. Though later on she did say that "she did not want the day to end". I arrived as the same time as the groom, after an incident at Bagden with an overturned vehicle on the drive up to the venue (luckily no one was hurt), so we were greeted by the ambulance and fire-engine. Anyway that did not hold up the proceedings, with Michaela actually arriving a little early. The Wedding it self was mixed with emotion and laughter. The guests were later treated to a magician, while enjoying the sunshine.

This was my first wedding of the weekend, this time we were at the 315 Restaurant in Lepton, which has only just been opened and has only done about 3 weddings. It is a beautiful and tastefully decorated venue and has lovely countryside views. I had not met Steven prior to the wedding, so hopefully put him at his ease. They guys were quite happy to have their photographs taken and seemed quite relaxed. Beverley arrived in a stretched Limo, which had a little difficulty getting to the venue, she looked lovely and was given away by her son. Her twin sister Sharon was her bridesmaid. There was a very emotional moment with Steven's son who was in tears during the ceremony. Everybody seemed to have a good time as they sat in the bar. Later moving to the Ingram Suite for the wedding breakfast.

Gillian & Matthew - Oakwood Hall

When I arrived at Gillian's it was a very girly affair with all the bridesmaids sat in their rollers and having their hair and makc-up done. I met Matthew at the church when he arrived with his grooms-men in tow. The weather did turn for the worse and absolutely bucketed down for the arrival of Gillian. By the time we came out of the church the rain had abated for a while, so we managed to get some shots in the lovely grounds. At Oakwood - it was the same with a little drizzle (though we had brollies at the ready) but we managed to get all the shots we needed prior to the wedding breakfast. It was also lovely working with Ken and Carole from Phase 5 Productions, who were doing the video shoot. Gillian and Matthew were having such a great time, it was quite late when we got to do the first dance, I think they had forgotten all about it.

Jennifer & Alex - Owston Hall

Jennifer & Alex pulled out all the stops for their beautiful wedding in Owston nr Doncaster. They had got engaged at the Christmas 2009 and by the end of the following January the Venue, Horse & Carriage, Church, Videographer and myself was booked. Also "save the day" cards had been sent. The colours of the flowers and the bridesmaids dresses were perfect and very summery. The Church is walking distance from the Hall, which is in a lovely village tucked away in the countryside. Horse and Carriage and Vintage car was used to transport the couple and bridesmaids, which very fitting for the setting. The best man was a bit of a character and was a very cheeky chappy indeed. The first dance was out of this of this world, as Alex had arrange a track of 12 songs and a dance had been learnt and went down well with the guests.

Sharon & Caz are a very glamorous couple and looked stunning on Friday. Again a glorious day weather wise, we seem to have been quite lucky this year so far. Sharon wore a beautiful Amanda Wyatt designer gown which suited her stunning figure and Caz looked very dashing in is White Suit. The venue was dressed beautiful, with an archway of white roses. The wedding ceremany was very moving, with readings from their families. Later 2 doves were released, which when we left was happily roosting on the roof of the hotel.

After spending the morning chasing around after golfers for the Captains Day at our local Golf Club. Off I go to meet Jennifer & Alex at Owston Hall, which indeed is situated on a Golf Course. I had not seen Jennifer & Alex since they booked my in January 2010, so it was nice to catch up with them. They are going to get married at the little church in Owston Village, where after the wedding they will be travelling by Horse and Carriage to the Hall. Owston has some lovely grounds, which on the day will make a lovely backdrop for their wedding.

This time the weather let us down (do I seem weather possessed?) I arranged to meet Caz & Sharon at the Cedar Court Hotel at Wakefield, which is the venue for their wedding in a couple of weeks. It just bucketed it down and there was also a wedding going on, so I had to find a quite spot in the hotel to take some shoots. So I used a corridor, which had a great brick wall, which looked great. We had a good giggle while doing these shots and I know that on the big day we will have some great fun.

Weather was no worry this time, it was sunshine all the way. Vicki looked stunning, as did all the bridesmaids (and it was great catching up with Emma who was my bride many years back). The guys were on top form and up for the reservoir dogs shot, complete with sunglasses. Talking of sunglasses the girls got in the act as well. Also there was an extra Bride and Groom at the wedding, these were flower-girl Paiges 2 teddies, which were dressed for the occasion, so they got in a couple of shots on the car and outside the Manor.

Again another day, where the weather held off, making it a perfect day. Carr Hall Castle is a little gem hidden away at Holy Well Green, near Halifax, it actually looks like it belongs in Scotland. You drive up through the deer park where the fallow deer wander freely. Vanessa was getting ready in the Castle, where outside a marquee was being filled with flowers, table decorations, butterfly's and cup-cakes. The groom was traditionally late, but non of that really mattered. After a beautiful ceremony, in which Tom got down on one knee to exchange rings, followed by photographs by the cars, the lake with the views of the park below. It was a fantastic and very different wedding, in sumptuous surrondings.

Again with another day forecast for rain. We survived with lovely weather and cheery skies. Rebecca looked stunning in her wedding dress and her bridesmaids in a fantastic short green dresses. Haworth was the venue for the wedding, off course full of tourist who seemed to be attracted by the possibility of a Yorkshire wedding. Stuart and guests were already outside the Black Bull, spilling out onto the cobbles. I have always wanted to do Haworth church as that is where I did a lot of my course work in my "Mature" student days. After the Ceremony Rebecca & Stuart were greeted outside the church by a parade of rugby players, which was a surprise for them. The Chevin was the venue for the wedding reception. After the speeches we did some romantic shots around the woods and in the hotel.

Well one thing we can rely on is the weather and we had a bit of a mixed bag, with a bit of rain in the morning and sunshine in the afternoon.

Philippa looked amazing, her make-up and hair was perfect. She looked stunning in her beautiful wedding dress. The boys scrubbed up well also and looked very dapper in their suits.

After a beautiful wedding at St Oswalds the rain started to ease up and we made our way to Wood Hall. I had seen a field of poppies on my previous visit, but the gate was locked and I could not see Philippa wanting to scramble over it. However as I drove up there was an opening and what looked like mounds of rubble and earth, was just covered with poppies and thistles. I waited for Philippa & Andrew to arrive, while kind, concerned guests thought I had broken down and kept stopping to help. Phillipa & Andrew were quite happy to pose for me in the poppies and these made beautiful images. We had a great day and lots of fun as well.

Met up with Philippa & Andrew at the lovely Wood Hall in Linton. Again the weather during the day was pretty miserable, but on the evening it was fine and the light was lovely. This is my second pre-wedding shoot and will be my second wedding there this year. It is a lovely venue with loads of photo locations in the grounds and in the hotel itself. Philippa & Andrew seemed to enjoy their pre wedding shoot and I got a great big hug off them both afterwards.

I met up with Rebecca & Stuart at their Venue this week. The weather had been awful all day and Rebecca had texted me to say that we would be probably shooting indoors. However by the time we got there the rain had cleared up and the was becoming a lovely evening, however windy it was. We got some great shoots on location. Though we may go to Chevin Point on the day, we will see what the weather has install for us then.

These are just a few of the shots, which I took using the beautiful models on the Chris Chambers Portfolio Shoot at Hazelwood Castle. It was a very long day, but such good fun. The models were amazing and very patient, in spike of the cold weather. The lighting was absolutely fantastic and the rain held off during the day.

After the Royal Wedding, there was no pressure for Emilia & Adam, but all the stops were pulled out. Beautiful Day, Gorgeous Bride, Handsome Groom and Stunning Venues.

The sun shone all the way and all day. Wood Hall was splendid as usual and the Leeds Cathedral was stunning. It was a very emotional occasion and great fun as well. The cake was amazing and I have never seen such lifelike caricatures before, certainly spot on.

I managed to get some lovely romantic shots, in the grounds, within the hotel and in the honeymoon suite.

Both Emilia & Adam seemed to have a great time and they were a pleasure to photograph. I thank them both for letting me part of their special day.
