Anne-Marie & James - Spring Time on the Farm

Anne-Marie and James wanted to have their wedding reception on a farm as they are great animal lovers.  So the venue "Weddings and Wellies" as a natural choice for their spring wedding.  We had done a pre-wedding shoot a few weeks ago on the lane leading up to venue when it was rather wet and chilly after the terrible winter we had just had, showing no signs of warming up.  First of all it was a short drive for me to meet up with Anne-Marie at The Black Horse at Clifton, that itself being a lovely venue for weddings, to shoot the pre-wedding shots.  Everybody was very relaxed, as was Anne-Marie, though when mum came in to the room and saw Anne-Marie in a bridal gown she was overcome with emotion.  After that it was off to the little church in Norithorpe to meet James and his best man (sporting a black eye - sporting accident), the guys were in good spirit and the sun was now shining.  When it came to the wedding James looked so proud of his beautiful bride, the service was lovely as always with the lady vicar, who is always such fun to work with. After the service it was down to the farm on the tractor to the party marque which was set out beautifully as always, very personal to the couple, with pictures of their parents weddings on the cake table, which I thought was a lovely touch.  Duncan the farmer, always seems to like me getting into the cherry picker so that he can take it too the full height, much to the amusement of the guests, though I am always glad to get back on the ground.  We did some lovely shots on the farm, using the field, the lane and found some lambs as well.  I always take a picnic hamper and blanket to sit on the bales of hay, but seeming as the children had demolished them we had to put it on the large round one - but still a great shot.  I know that Anne-Marie and James enjoyed their day and too their guests it was a great and unique experience.

Amy's Prom Shoot

The other week I did my first Prom Portrait - however I had also been asked to photograph a daughter of an old friend, who I had not seen for ages.  So I bobbed along to catch up with Mandy and meet her lovely daughter Amy.  Amy was already for her prom and was waiting for her friend to arrive. Amy has a very Mediterranean look, which was just as her mum looked years ago when I first knew her.  Originally I was going to set up a back drop, however I could see a magnificent tree in full blossom in the garden, so I managed to get Amy position under the tree (luckily she had sensible shoes on), so we took some lovely shots there and also inside, using natural light.  When her friend Eleanor  arrived who was dressed in very vintage 50's style, we soon got her involved some shots but not under the tree (not so sensible shoes).  But we could still use the tree as a backdrop from the decking and also using the natural light from the window which again worked rather well.  The girls really enjoyed their prom and again their Mum's were very proud of how grown up they had become.

Fay & Greg - Huddersfield Golf Club

Huddersfield Golf Club have now obtained a licence to conduct weddings at the Hall.  The Beautiful Fay and Greg are the very first couple to get married there, which also got some press coverage with a probably nervous wedding planner (who was really great).  Fay (a local hairdresser) had seen my car about in town (yes it pays to advertise), so we met up earlier this year to discuss their special day, a nice simple wedding to be held at the golf club and lets pray it does not rain (always bothered about the weather - me and hates sunshine).  Anyway the Golf Club is a lovely venue with loads of great rooms to have photographs in whatever the weather, especially the Ladies changing room (sorry Greg), which is in keeping with the Hall with old fashioned lockers and dressing table, which we used to great effect.  The service was lovely and emotional,  especially with Max - Fay's little boy who loved every minute of it and sometimes stole the show.  Ruby the little bridesmaid was lovely and I got a great grab shot of her sat on the stairs, which I really love. It was a simple but fantastic wedding, the weather was sunny but a bit chilly.  From what I seen I know the guests thought it was a great day - verging on the fantastic  cos  hat's off to Huddersfield Golf Club on their first wedding.

Imogen's Pre-prom Portrait

Prom season is non upon us with boys and girls dressing in their finery with Party Buses, Stretched Limos on every corner and red carpets at the venues.  When Nikki asked me to photograph her daughter on her prom evening I was happy to pop down to Park Row Hair and Beauty to do the photo shoot.  Upstairs in the Beauty rooms Imogen and her pals were getting ready, having their hair and make-up done, very giggly and girlie, before they get their fantastic gowns on.  All the girls looked fantastic when they were ready, with their mum's looking very proud and tearful - their little girls all grown up.  Once Imogen was ready, it was time to take some portrait shots, using the lovely back drop of Park Row - with their lovely furniture and settings.  Imogen was a stunning model, looking fabulous, very easy to work with.  I know she had a great night and also she went on to win the best hair at the prom.  The little puppy (Poppy) belonged to a spectator when the girls were getting in the car, I could not help but take a shot of another cute girl.
